How to dictate a change so it comes out right the first time

Five habits that help the AI understand your notes without doubts or redoing: point, name what you see, say the result, one idea at a time, and ask for options when you're unsure.

A note is an instruction for the AI, said the way you'd say it to someone on your team. Bitácora turns it into tasks before running, and these habits help those tasks come out right.

1. Point while you talk

Click on the screen where each change goes while you dictate. Each point tells the AI which element it is, without you having to describe it. "Make this bigger" with a point on it is worth more than a long sentence without pointing.

2. Name what you see, the way you see it

Say "the Pay button", "the coffee of the day card", or "the title at the top", with the text you can read on the screen. If you have your own words ("the pill", "the little ball"), use them: Bitácora learns them over time. See Your vocabulary.

3. Say the result, not just the problem

Less clearBetter
"I don't like this""Make it smaller and gray, so it doesn't compete with the title"
"Improve the header""In the header, the logo on the left and the menu on the right"
"The button doesn't stand out""The Order button, full width and in the brand color"

4. One idea per sentence

You can say several things in the same dictation: Bitácora splits them into tasks. It helps to say them one after another, each with its point, instead of mixing them into a single sentence.

5. If you're unsure, ask for options

When you don't know which one you want, ask for all of them: "Give me three versions of the header: with a photo, text only, and with a big logo". You decide by seeing them on the real screen: see Choose between versions of a screen.

When the AI asks

If something is ambiguous, the AI asks before touching anything. Answering is quick and also teaches it how you talk: see Answer the AI's questions.

What you don't need to dictate

For an exact value (a color, a padding, a text), it's quicker to change it by hand: see When to adjust by hand and when to dictate.
